When’s the Last Time You Said, “Wow! I did that!”?

If you’re like many of us, you often say to yourself, “Why did I do that?” Shaking our head, we often regret actions performed impulsively, decisions made hastily or choosing not to do what is unfamiliar. Consequently, much of the time, we compare ourselves to others and see ourselves as less than admirable.

This can be the case with our job, our health, our goals or our dreams in life. I admit, I’ve been the same way. Seeking a comfort zone, my introverted self would rather stay safe and calm than take a risk. When I started my career, I took the first job I could find instead of seeking a teaching position away from home. Eventually I got bored but it took me quite awhile to have the guts to interview again. Finally I found a job with a school system, but in time I learned I needed to work with other adults, who like myself, wanted to feel good at the end of the day. Today, I am so thankful I took a risk to get out of my comfort zone and find where the magic happens. I’m grateful to be using my skills in such a way that leads clients to find peace of mind, power, pleasure and even pride in how they communicate.

We are each given a purpose, a set of skills and talents and a chance to experience what happens when we use them. These times create huge feelings of success or accomplishment, helping us say, “Wow! I did that!”

Have you said this lately? Instead of asking yourself, “Why did I do this?”, tap into how you felt the last time you experienced huge success. You can feel this way again. Not by playing it safe, but by stepping out of your comfort zone.
